Saturday

SO far my weekend has been exacly as predicted

Last night i watched the royal wedding at one of my work colleagues house, we had tea and scones, pimms and champagne,  vodka apple martini things and a laugh.

The much anticipated wedding was lovely, and "the dress" was gorgeous and bla bla bla.. the ceremony was traditionally boring and religious but i suppose it wouldnt be the same without a british stiff upper lip.

It was a good evening though, relaxing and very british.
I called home a few times to speak to he mother ship and the sisters, but after 10:45am uk time i didnt hear much, the last thing mother ship said was that sister nimber one or two had just opened another bottle of champagne and Linda from next door was having a cry. I suppose then they must have been having a lovely time ....

I rang Mr D too. I wanted to talk to him... I missed him today.

Now however, Its satuday and i'm at work. So far, so good for my weekend predictions...

Kate and Will

I must admit there is a little excitement today in the Orifice (office) about the Royal Wedding.

Bing stuck in Singapore with a bunch of Expats from the UK and Australia generally allows events of out nations to grow and grow into a frenzied excitement....

Today, at 8am we began work, and the 1st thing that happened is someone hummed the wedding march- dum dum dadum... as we walked down the corridor!

The excitement is almost palpable... and the biggest question - Apart from "the dress" is - where do we watch?

Channel 5 are showing the wedding (on channel 2 which I have always found a bit weird!!) but Channel 5 is the perpetrator of the shows "the noose" and "we are Singaporeans" and also loves an inappropriately timed advertising break... so Im debating watching on the BBC.. On cable at a friend's after work....

And after all, you can't fault the BBC, the good old BBC no commercials and good old fashioned reporting.

Catherine Middleton and Prince William

                                                                  x Congratulations x

Weekend prediction

Saturday morning work, home for a nap then off to a roof top BBQ - Quiet night

Pool Party?

today the voting began....

im a bit sick of the Party political broadcasting on TV and also the singaporeans genral lack of political interest as "wah!!!! the PAP will win la.............voting? no need ah'

Voting is Compulsary on the 7th may so let the build up to the big day begin... yawn.

Im voting for "fancy dress party"

Cable?

Its been a fairly quiet week, but I will share with you a little singaporean TV .. these are 2 of the shows that are on TV here:

the 1st is a sitire show- im not sure its that funny: The noose

the 2nd is the slowest, most painfully drawn out quiz show ever: We are Singaporeans

Perhaps ill look into getting cable TV this week!?

Easter- a lesson about god

My housemate's date, yes indeed, had a girlfriend....

she has told me she is now off men and she's going to become a nun.

I asked her if she knew that as a nun she has to give herself, loyally and faithfully and wholeheartedly to one man -  God.

She said there was no evidence in the book to suggest God is a man..

so i said:
"the father, son and holy ghost"
and she said
"shit"
and i said
"there may be more evidence, but i'm not sure"
and she said that i'd fucked up her plan .

Brunch II

Had a little trip out to the pub las night with a few of the workies and well, a few turned into a few more and a few more... a quick drink in Emerald hill ended up as a full on night of Moshing like a 16 year old to Nirvana and Metallica and pouring spirits down my throat...

Woke up drunk, but had to get up as I promised big buttons i'd meet him for brunch..
So at 12 o'clock i got to EM (again, twice in one weekend for brunch)... and met up with Big Buttons. He is still gorgeous. I haven't seen him in nearly a month, and he rocks up looking all cool, and lovely in a grey and red striped t-shirt and baggy black shorts. I couln't ssee his eyes for most of the brunch as he kept his sunglasses on, but thats ok - It meant I could keep mine on.. as I felt like shit, and looked like shit.

bloody alcohol. My work mates are a bad influence on me... there are pictures to prove it too!

Anyway, We ordered, twice, requested our coffees twice and ate the american breakfasts' on the worlds smallest table, chatted about rubbish, and serious stuff, and how Big Buttons is about to launch a new comuter game or two.... when Big buttons took a look about and said, rather amusingly that he doesn't understand us white folk.. why would they wanna sit outside on a hot day and eat brunch?!

I looked about to see what he was on about and sure enough - no other folk except caucasians...

I laughed. He thinks i'm mad wanting to sit outside... he even said that I wasn't designed for the outside and that i'd either burn/ melt/ complain its too hot/ sulk or sweat > good point well made, it was too hot and all i wanted was a cold dark room to curl up in...
so 2 hours after I arrived, I got a cab home. Big Buttons suggested I go to his and have a nap while he worked and then we could hang out again later. Admittedly a tempting offer but I thought that the possibility of hangover puking would be less than attractive. So im home, Dead.

back to bed.

tri polar

5pm friday till 7pm saturday

26 hours in bed.

Feeling tri-polar

I'm not sure if its better or worse ?

My housemate actually had to get me out of bed by poking me with a broom handle, she said i'd had enough sleep.

I'll go out for a bit while she is on a date (with another Indian chap- well spoken and handsome (probably has a girlfriend!!)), the workies are going to the pub....

yawn, best get dressed.

Kissing Koi and bogies

twas a good day.

Last night I popped out with the workies for a few after work Tiger beers..... was usual trash talk and laughs.... then i went out with my housemate and her father for more Tiger beer, some Wine anda few Jager bombs ... a few too many later I decided to have a closer look at the floor!
boom!

oh well, matching cuts on my legs and a slightly painful left wrist!

anyway... today was mega fun...

My housemates Father took us for Brunch at my fave place, EM on Robertson Quay- SHIT service, but good eggs on toast.... (you'll have to get your own glass of water and ask twice for the Ketchup/ bill. coffee you ordered half an hour ago- but oh well!)

Then we went for a walk and took a boat ride on the river- I got a little sunburnt.

After that we went to the Fullerton Hotel- I like the Fullerton as it has a giant Koi fish pond inside, just downstairs from the reception... I like to hang out there as firstly its air conditioned, and secondly it makes me feel like a kid again... my dad used to take me toa garden centre back home where they had a Koi fish pond and I honestly could have spent hours there as a kid....The Fullerton Pond is similar except bigger and low lying, and has no barriers so you can dangle your hand in the water so the fish can suck your finger... Plus I like to kiss the koi fishes on the head!

My housemate then suggested we have a bite to eat, so we and her father had ourselves a spot of afternoon tea!! lovely- sandwiches and cake and tea and scones...

and in the sophistication of it all- me and my housemate played Bogies!! BOGIES LINK ..........
Another BOGIES Link

ha ha ha.
funny day.

think ill put Forrest Gump on the DVD player and have a little snooze,  Lovely day

BOGIES!

Vote for a party

on the plus side however, we have a long weekend this weekend because it's easter.

-And-

another piece of good news: As Singapore is about to vote for government....  the current government have decided to give everyone an extra public holiday... which makes for a very convenient holiday in leiu banked for a rainy day! Thanks singapore, thanks PAP (people's action party)

nothing like a little bribery to win a vote!

office frustration

Its thursday before easter weekend, and im in the office and im frustrated, I have just had a run in with an angry mother of a patient. I really question sometimes if the health care system here actually does really work in the interests of the patient.

I have just allowed one of my patients- worse still a child, to leave my clinic in a broken appliance as mum cannot afford to fix it. Im now steaming with myself as there really was nothing I could do, even after I changed screws and welded a bit... still broken and in need of replacement.

I think its going to be one of those days!

Fish

Cigarette buts are bad,
as they wash out to sea,
and the fish smoke them,
and become nicotine dependent.

I am joking,
because of course,

It is impossible for a cigarette,
to remain lit underwater.

And also,
Fish do not have pockets,
in which to keep Cigarette Lighters.

I went to bed. exhausted.

A storm is a brewin'

Took the mother ship and the father bean to a traditional hawker centre for lunch.
Chicken rice for mother, pork rib noodle soup for me and father.
prawn dumplings and char sui bao.

I love this dinner.

They- not too keen.

Dad (in his indiana jones hat) gawped around Marina Bay Sands and marvelled at the architecture for a bit. Struggling with a giantathon camera he decided to drag around with him.
And the mothership having seen Singapore before gossiped about home and Goa and the family.

I like having the folks here.

Father Bean began getting annoyed: his feet hurt.
Im tired.

We returned home around 5pm and were welcomed home by a massive thunder and lightning show. being in the clouds on the 29th floor means you can see all manner of displays.

I laughed at dad, whilst he screamed and jumped out his skin, like a girl!!

7.06 AM

So,the mothership and the father bean arrived EARLY saturday, I was busy languishing in my pit after going out till 2am on friday with hot board shorts guy, his beautiful swedish girlfriend and their friends.

Friday was non-eventful apart from 4 vodka lemonades in the highest rooftop bar in Singapore. I hoped I may have bumped into balding investment banker again,  just for a bit of a giggle - but it seems that he was busy doing wanker banker-ing.

So after a text fired off to sister number 2 at 7.20 am:
"can you check the internet about mum and dad landing in Changi- flight no 9W12 arrival at 7.25 am supposedly"

Reply-

"landed - 7.06am"

BOLLOX- they just did a few thousand miles and arrived on time and I  have to do 15 miles and arrive late!

Woops. quick hair up, jeans on, in cab and to the airport.

Met the folks at 7.56 at "the meeting point".. they are suitably browned after a stint in Goa (for the last 2 weeks) and looking smiley.

innovation

I was at work yesterday and there was a man who was using a tampon to stop  nose bleed. The first thing i thought..... ????

hum, Clever!

it was a wierd day.

Mother ship and father bean arrive here tomorrow (sat 9th April).. 7:30am. Im debating if i should have an early night or if I should go out tonight and meet them at the airport pissed?!
