SIM card disaster

WOOPS!

Last night I went out with KW, big buttons and tall and handsome....

I Lost my new blackberry phone thingy-me-bob on the dance floor, whilst probably fishing around in my bag, in the dark for something- or- other.

Bollox. It was Toad's blackberry- he had loaned it to me in good faith untill I got myself sorted out with a contract. Bugger, messed that one up - i'll have some explaining to do, especially as Toad told me it was the best phone he had ever had and to be careful with its limited edition software or something.. I warned him I'd drop/loose/break it, but he said not to worry and I wouldn't.

But, I did.

More worryingly though, when it happened in the dark and seedy club that is the Pump Room in Clarke Quay, me and KW were dancing away and a kerfuful happened, bags were dropped and alot of distraction was happening- maybe someone took it, maybe I dropped it, I don't know, but the most important thing that occured to me, was the following:

I felt abandoned.
Not abandoned by the phone, but totally alone and like tunnel vision and impared hearing. I had worked so hard in this new country to build up a bank of contacts- almost friends.... irriplaceable contacts i'd already begun to suss out, and become friends with... acquaintances, random's I had met out and about in bars, at work and in back packers hostels... Landlords, potential housemates and people off facebook....

Worse still- I had saved Friends and Family from the UK on the phone, Miss M and Mr D gone, Mother ship and father beans numbers erased a long time ago from my memory, entrusted to my fucking SIM card.

STUPID FUCKING TECHNOLOGY....

oh god, all gone.

I actually had a little panicked drunken cry and Big Buttons went to hunt for the phone, but to no avail.

So he gave me alcohol, lots of it to calm me down...
Then I went home with Big Buttons and passed out on his sofa.

Wow, this morning was awkward: but Big Buttons gave me his number so, well - I now have 1 contact for my new mobile phone...
